Hey everyone!
Last week I got to try out another hotel for you all! Someone had suggested to me that I do a report on Double Tree by Hilton and, as Brett and I desperately needed a night or two away I thought that there wasn't a better time to do it. The Double Tree by Hilton location we stayed at was near Newbury and, opposite Chieveley services. With access to the M4, A34 and, A339, this hotel is perfect for those needing a stopover on a long journey or visiting family in the nearby towns and villages.
Unfortunately, I left my vlogging camera at home so was unable to get a good video but, the hotel does have an excellent fitness and spa area with gym, swimming pool, spa pool, steam room and, sauna. There are disabled changing rooms are within the respective male and female changing areas but these don't have changing benches or hoists so I would recommend getting changed in the room if you need this.
When it comes to the room, we stayed in a non-accessible Deluxe room (Free upgrade! Thanks guys!). This room had plenty of space to manoeuvre around and, included free wifi, water, wine, chocolate as well as standard tea and coffee making facilities. Unfortunately, these rooms don't have a Nespresso Machine or similar which is something you may expect with upgraded rooms. The bathroom had some grab rails around the bath however, the shower is over the bath. The good news though is that if you are like me and prefer baths, you can have one! Another perk of Double Tree is that every guest is given a free cookie when they check in (be warned these contain nuts) and, you can order a tin at reception to take home with you!
All of the staff I encountered at the hotel were extremely attentive and helpful. When our TV wasn't working properly and Brett did some online thing, the staff were very quick to correct the problem. At reception, we found out that the room we were meant to be in was on the 2nd floor with no lift access. This is actually what led to us being upgraded.
Overall, if you are like me and skeptical of accessible rooms, I would happily recommend the Double Tree Deluxe Rooms based on this stay. Just make sure that you do make the hotel aware of your access requirements regarding ground floor rooms if there is no lift access at the location you plan on staying at.
Have a great day and don't forget to recommend more hotels in the comments below or, on my social media channels!
